PlanTherm PT 200 enables fast and easy estimation of heat tolerance of various plants, plant suspension cells, algae, and cyanobacteria. PlanTherm PT200 simultaneously monitors conductivity and chlorophyll a fluorescence of the analyzed sample during its gradual heating from 25 to 75°C in less than 1 hour. The heating process is controlled, recorded and evaluated by PC with intuitive ProfileCon software.

PlanTherm PT 200 PlanTherm PT 200 enables fast and easy estimation of heat tolerance of various plants, plant suspension cells, algae, and cyanobacteria (Bednarikova et al., 2020, Chen et al., 2023, Ilek et al., 2018, Zhang, et al., 2019). As the heat stress leads to disintegration of cell membranes and so to increased ion leakage from cytosol to solvent, PlanTherm PT200 simultaneously monitors conductivity and chlorophyll a fluorescence of the analyzed sample during its gradual heating from 25 to 75°C in less than 1 hour (Ilek et al., 2018). Whereas the change in conductivity is related to the cell membrane thermostability, the chlorophyll a fluorescence intensity (so called minimal fluorescence level – Ft) is connected to primary photosynthetic processes (thermostability of thylakoid membranes and function of the photosystem II). The measured conductivity-temperature curve enables to determine the exact threshold temperature when leakage of ions from cells occurs. The threshold temperature is taken as a measure of the heat stability of studied plant life-form. PlanTherm device is designed for analysis of various cell suspensions and plant material ranging from small up to middle size leaves or leaf segments. The heating process is controlled, recorded and evaluated by PC with intuitive ProfileCon software.
PlanTherm PT 200 is provided with a laptop with preinstalled Windows 11 operation system. The new intuitive user-interface ProfileCon v3 allows to setup experiment, analyze data and export measured curves to textual output file. Plots of currently running experiment, measured raw data and analyzed results can be displayed on the main screen.
